how can I enable/disable context items at runtime?

I tried using the show event but it seems like a catchall and doesn't pass each option in - is this the place to enable items?

It's Items[i].Disabled. you can change dynamically in both full submit or ajax (async) events.

You need call AjaxReRender to rebuild the items.
Call the method at end :
