Unable to register old install

by RedOctober » 22 Sep 2019 18:22

I have an old Delphi XE3 application that I am tasked to maintain. The IDE was corrupted at some point, so I am in the process of re-installing the IDE and all the tools/components. I have successfully re-installed the Delphi XE3 IDE and IntraWeb 12x. I am now trying to install CGDevTools using the setup file: setup-IW12.2.23.exe

I get the following error message at the "register" step during the install:

---------------------------
Cgdevtoolslic
---------------------------
Server was unable to process request. ---> login Invalid.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

(License key deliberately not shown)

What could be causing this problem? Is there something I need to tweek? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

UPDATE:

In the register window, it appears that each computer needs it's own license key. The old computer is being decommissioned, and I'm moving everything over to a newer computer. How do I get a key so I can transfer the license to the new computer?

Hi RedOctober,
We had some issues with servers, so please try again.

Best Regards.

Hi, I tried again just now. Same error message.
Can I email my license key to some one at your office and get them to register me, or does it have to be done from my development PC?

Also...the OS on my new dev machine is Windows Server 2016. Could that be the problem?

I re-installed on the original computer and the registration worked. So, I don't think it is a CGDevTools server issue. I think the license is somehow tied to a specific PC. What is the process to move a license from an old computer to a new computer? The old PC will be decommissioned soon.

Hi RedOctober,

There is no any special process to move the license.
Just uninstall from old and install on new one, if you will be asked about registration, contact us and we provide the activation.
