Grid Export to Excel

by antonsanta » 20 Nov 2019 12:43

Hi,
seems there are problems with file compatibility of xls generated by Grid.ExportToExcel-method, as can be found in several threads in this forum. Are there any chances to have this fixed in next upgrade?
best regards

Also from Alexander Pope: "To err is human, to forgive divine. All people commit sins and make mistakes."

.... but will CGD team acknowledge the mistake and rectify their "err"? I, for one, will forgive :P

Just did a quick Google and, something I did not know, this saying is from “An Essay on Criticism”... how appropriate :|

Hello,

The grid component use the old open source library: tmxnativeexcel, which is not maintained by author for several years.

If you want export grid data for most recent XLS versions, you must use some 3rdParty xml component to build the structure.

Best Regards.

Hi Leo (is Leo your name?)
i decided for Scalabium Export-tool. Works fine, is very fast and not expensive. Has support for xls und xlsx.

Hi Toni,

Yes. I have looked at Scalium and others.

I was hoping there is some JQuery lib that will use the visible columns.

I opted to write some code that writes to CSV.

TIA

Zane (first name... it's always a problem when your first is a name a last name and last is a first name :P .... I answer to either so not a problem ;) )
