some questions about the WebCam component

by EitanArbel » 18 Oct 2017 16:48

hi
i have several questions :

1. if i make the webcam component's size small, like for example : 300x200 pixels - the image i save is also small.
is there a way to have the real quality of the camera regardless of the component size on the form?

2. the default way of working is Video.
how can i make it to be ready for a photo? (image quality is usually higher for photos)

3. if i set the CaptureHeight and CaptureWidth then i can't see anything in the component (only white), but there is a picture when i save.
what am i missing please?

Thanks

Yes, define the CaptureHeight and CaptureWidth properties.

No way...you can take the snapshot from video only.

3. if i set the CaptureHeight and CaptureWidth then i can't see anything in the component (only white), but there is a picture when i save.

You don't get errors/alerts on browser?

Best Regards.

Thanks for your reply Alexander

crap... video snapshot quality is very bad...

3. if i set the CaptureHeight and CaptureWidth then i can't see anything in the component (only white), but there is a picture when i save.

no error or alert of any kind, just an empty white instead of what the component showed me.
if i set CaptureHeight and CaptureWidth to 0, then i see what the component see, but the captured image will be at the component's size, which is very small.
i assume the component is still working, because i can still take a snapshot, and save the image.

4. the snapshot i take is double- mirrored...
every picture i take, for example to look like "=^" is saved as "v=".
i use the FlipHoriz:=True but it still come as "=v".
i couldn't find anything like "FlipVertical"

Thanks !

Hi EitanArbel,

In fact, the plugin doesn't have the property to flip vertical.
We will analyze the possibility to add this feature.

Anyway, you should check this situation with another camera.

Best Regards.

actually, all the tests i made were with my mobile phone, for a project that needs the mobile's camera.
i know the component is not built especially for mobile, but other then theses problems, it seems to work fine.
is there something you can do to make it more "mobile friendly" please?

any idea about No.3 ?

Thanks !
