JQAutoComplete Back spacing when typing

I have been having a ongoing issue with JQAutoComplete where it will backspace over something you type as you are typing.
It seems to be a timing issue where it happens when the dropdown is populated or something like that. I just can't seem to pinpoint it. It does not happen all the time so it hard to demo but in the course of a day for the end users it will happen dozens of times. So what happens is if I type in something like CGDevTools and somewhere along the lines it would pull back data in the dropdown the JQAutoComplete control may backspace over the D and I would end up with CGevTools.

I have tried putting code in the GetAutoCompleteData event and I have also used the DataLink but booth produce the same results. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? TIA
