Visible and Disabled properties different

When I change the Visible property of a menu item in an Ajax event the control updates but when I change the Disabled property of a menu item I need to do an AjaxRerender to update the control. Why are they different? I don't like to AjaxRerender more than necessary as it causes more communication then I would like.

I've added the possibility to change the disable state via ajax on next beta build.

When the menu item is disabled via an ajax event the button still fires if selected. It is disabled in the browser (greyed out) but still active.
