Add TIWCGJQComboBoxEx.SelectedItem property

I've been using the following code to get the selected item's value:

myValue := myCGJQComboBoxEx.Items[myCGJQComboBoxEx.SelectedIndex].Value;

is there a better way, or can you add a SelectedItem property to TIWCGJQComboBoxEx?
